How handguns work at a shotgun range.
Coyote Valley is a shotgun focused facility, but we also welcome handgun shooters through structured, instructor led programs. Handgun shooting is exclusively offered through classes and experiences designed to provide a safe, structured and welcoming introduction to the sport.
Instruction Only
Handgun shooting here happens inside a course. There's no open pistol range, no walk-on lane, if you want to shoot a pistol at Coyote Valley, you will need to book a class.
On the Cowboy Range
Courses run on our Cowboy Action range, the one corner of the property built for modern handgun work. Firearms and ammunition allowed there are significantly restricted.

Three courses, three hours each, built to be taken in order, or jump straight to the class that matches your experience level.
Pistol Introductory Package
The foundation course. It's built to give a beginner real pistol knowledge, the right attitude, and the fundamental skills to own and handle a handgun safely and responsibly - hands-on from the start.
You'll try up to seven different makes, models and optics setups. That's the part people don't expect: rather than learning on whatever gun you happened to buy, you get to feel the difference between them before you ever walk into a gun store.

Intermediate Pistol Package
For shooters who've mastered the basics and want speed, accuracy, efficiency and confidence. Structured, hands-on, and performance-based, the coaching here is measured, so you leave knowing what actually improved.
Bring your own firearm and train with the equipment you actually rely on. Rentals may be available on a limited basis. If you're bringing your own gun, call the Pro Shop a few days ahead so we can confirm we'll have the right ammunition on the shelf.
